World chocolate day

It’s world chocolate day, so of course you’ve got to celebrate and eat lots of chocolate!

World chocolate day is celebrated on 7th July every year, a day that marks when chocolate was first introduced in Europe. This year we’re 467 years on from the day chocolate was introduced, so to celebrate we’ve put together our favourite ‘chocolatey’ things and recipes to try out this world chocolate day.

Whether it’s white, milk or dark, everyone loves chocolate and it doesn’t matter whether it’s in a cake, melted or as it is!

Our favourite ways to eat chocolate:

  • Melted – we love chocolate melted with fruit – frozen berries work well, they defrost really quickly and as they’re defrosting they create a coulis style sauce. Or why not melt some chocolate, dip in your favourite fruit and leave to chill in the fridge for a few hours and serve as a dessert!

  • In a cake, our favourite Coppenrath cakes that are chocolatey are:

  • Black Forest Kirsch Torte – this is the ultimate treat for all the family, packed full with a tasty chocolate sponge, cream, cherries and chocolate shavings.

  • Chocolate Gateau – chocolate overload that the kids will absolutely love, chocolate cream, flakes and sponge.

  • Chocolate Fudge Cake – a chocoholic’s dream, chocolate sponge smothered in chocolate sauce – perfect!

  • In a cheese cake – our delicious Chocolate Cheesecake can be defrosted at room temperature for two to three hours, a firm family favourite.

  • In ice cream – we can’t get enough of this recipe from Jamie Oliver, which uses lots of delicious dark chocolate. Perfect to serve with a slice of cake, don’t forget this month we’re giving away a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker, enter here.

Have a very happy world chocolate day!
