January Health Makeover

We are officially in the season to refresh and regenerate, making it the perfect time to give our health a makeover.

As the festive season is now in the rear-view mirror, we owe it to ourselves to give our fitness and wellbeing a seasonal boost. What better way to do this than by ditching bad habits and replacing them with new good ones?!

We’ve put together a list of some of the good habits you can pick up this year for the ultimate health makeover.

 

  1. Wellbeing Habits

Say no to stress this year. How do you do that? Well, to start off with, staying positive can actually reduce those stressful feelings. Find a balance in your life, that way things will start flowing naturally. Most people just don’t stop, but sometimes it is important to give yourself a break. Start a new rule – no mobile phone, laptop or tablet after 9pm and see the difference it will make in helping you switch off from daily life.

 

  1. Exercising Habits

Make a change this year and find an exercise routine that works for you, and just stick with it. This could be joining a CrossFit class or even taking regular walks. We tend to give up exercising after the January health streak, and it’s mostly because most of us deviate between over-committing to a fitness plan that we only manage to stick to for a few weeks, and total inactivity. After this, we go through weeks of guilt about what could have been. So say no to guilt this year by finding what works best for you and mastering it!

 

  1. Eating Habits

Eating

Most of us know what a healthy diet consists of, and how much we should eat to stay healthy. However, there are times when we kid ourselves about how healthy our diets really are. Being honest about your food downfalls is the first step in making a real change. For example, knowing that cereal bars are a far healthier option than a chocolate bar doesn’t mean you should eat 20 cereal bars a day! Try keeping a food diary as it helps you see where your food weaknesses are and combat them.

After 3 months, check your progress on all the above and see how you’re doing. Make sure that the goals you set were realistic, and if not – just adjust them. Don’t be too strict on yourself. Treat yourself to one of our desserts and soldier on!
