Count down to the New Year!

Just like any other New Year’s Eve celebration, millions of people will be waiting for the New Year to come at their local city squares, but sometimes the best memories can be created in your own home. We’ve put together a list of our top New Year’s Eve party hosting tips to help you remain stress free and have fun! Whether you’re planning on hosting the celebration of the century or a simple night at home, these tips will help you make sure your New Year’s Eve 2017 party is one for the history books!

  1. Invitations

By this time of the month, you should have already sent your invitations and received almost all the RSVPs. If they haven’t all come through, you best start following up – can’t have a party without guests!

  1. Theme

We all love a good ol’ themed party! Challenge your guests and go for laughs with a “come as your favourite resolution” or “wear your least favourite trend of 2017” theme! You could even incorporate the theme with the food you’ll be serving on the night! “Emoji cupcake anyone?”

  1. Food

We want you to have as much fun as possible (as most hosts are always busy worrying about how everyone else is doing), so get organised. Make sure food and drinks are taken care of before the first guest even arrives! With food, the good news is New Year’s Eve is perfect for finger foods – think canapés! For more examples of the perfect finger foods for your party, check out our recent blog!

  1. Drinks

Champagne cocktails or punch can be a fun addition to your party without the hassle of having a full bar. For some recipe ideas, take a look at Esquire’s selection for this year’s festive celebrations!

Don’t forget Prosecco for the toast at midnight! Make it New Year worthy by adding a splash of colour with some fruits to create Raspberry Prosecco bellinis or Pear Proseccos. For more inspiration, look through BBC Good Food’s list of Prosecco cocktails you can make in minutes.

  1. Safety

Take care of your guests’ safety, especially if they are drinking alcohol. Remind them to designate a driver if they are travelling in groups, or order a taxi in advance as it will be one of the busiest nights of the year.

  1. EntertainmentEntertainment

The real excitement about the party is the clock striking 12, but how are you entertaining your guests in the meantime? Try and organise some music, or better yet – turn your party theme into a game. Have guests write their resolutions down, and then have a game of charades!

  1. Decorations

Believe us when we tell you that having decorations plays a big part in setting the mood of the party. The internet is filled with all kinds of DIY decorations that could inspire you – including sparkly streamers, sphere-shaped and fringe garlands. Your efforts will not go unnoticed. (Looks like you’re about to have a very busy week!)

  1. Party favours

Party Favours

The best way to leave a lasting impression on your guests is to give out fun party favours for them to take home. You could do desserts decorated with 2018, or get messy and hand out individual countdown & confetti boxes! The list is endless. Here are a few more examples from Freshtix.

  1. Photographer

We all have at least one shutterbug friend or cousin! Why not designate them to be the photographer for the night?! We live in a digital era where we share most of our pictures online, so go the extra mile and create a hashtag for your party so you can all share photos. If digital is not your thing, you can even go retro with polaroid pictures and pin them on a board!

  1. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year

It’s countdown time with your friends and family. Grab your glass of bubbly and get ready to toast to the New Year.

Wishing you a successful New Year celebration. We hope it will be one to remember!
